He awoke the next morning, head pounding and mouth dry, computer still on. Finn had fallen asleep on the couch again, his monitors blaring and preventing REM sleep. The coke probably did that more so than the light. He went and got a drink of water, the days meetings would starts in a few minutes and he need to be bright eyed and bushy tailed. He brushed the coke baggy into his desk drawer. As tempting as a little christmas breakfast was to cure his hangover that was a bad habit to start in the morning. As the meeting app opened a view full of corporate types filled his screen, project managers, engineers, the dead eyed idiots that make up the corporate world and say things like “Thanks god its friday!” Finn had often mused about smashing his coffee cup across the face of the next person who said that, but they where only human. Finn had a soft spot for them, even their weaknesses. He had found people just another puzzle to solve, and saying the right things at the right times was like a video game input. He knew how to get people to like him, but he found the whole charade tedious at times. He smiled as the camera activated, still wearing the polo from the day before and glad the camera didn’t show his 5 o’clock shadow. “Good morning guys.” He said automatically, the ritual more a part of him than breathing at this point. A message pinged on his screen.

Clair: “You look like shit”
Finn: “Thanks babes”
Clair: “Out partying again?”
Finn: “Something like that”

He minimized the chat as the project manager said his name. “And now finn will explain more in detail.” Fuck, he thought. He was meant to have prepared a presentation for this meeting.
